SB 558 - HB 921 FISCAL NOTE Fiscal Review Committee Tennessee General Assembly February 11, 2025 Fiscal Analyst: Rebecca Chandler | Email: rebecca.chandler@capitol.tn.gov | Phone: 615-741-2564 SB 558 - HB 921 SUMMARY OF BILL: Replaces the term "firing" with "shooting" when referring to recreational shooting ranges managed by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA). Removes obsolete language regarding fee provisions for outdoor sport firing ranges. FISCAL IMPACT: NOT SIGNIFICANT Assumptions: • Changing the term in Tennessee Code Annotated, from “firing” to “shooting” does not alter TWRA operations, require new materials, or generate additional expenditures for state or local government. • The fee provisions for outdoor sport firing ranges operating before July 1, 1998, are outdated and no longer impact current operations. Public Chapter 1056 of 2024 clarified TWRA’s authority to hire concessionaires, allowing TWRA to manage ranges without relying on the obsolete fee.
