HB 989 - SB 1035

SUMMARY OF BILL: Requires the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) to report
by October 1, 2025, to the Speakers of the Senate and the House of Representatives, the number of
persons found guilty of the Class A misdemeanor offense of, as an employer, dismissing from
employment an employee because of jury service by that employee, from January 1, 1990, until
January 1, 2025.

FISCAL IMPACT:

NOT SIGNIFICANT

 Assumptions:

• Based on information provided by the AOC, the office can issue the required report within
existing resources containing all of the data available to the office on the relevant offense,
provided that the report may contain some data deficiencies due to the reporting standards
of earlier decades.
• Any fiscal impact to state or local government is therefore estimated to be not significant.
