HB 989 - SB 1035 FISCAL NOTE Fiscal Review Committee Tennessee General Assembly March 20, 2025 Fiscal Analyst: Natalie Dusek | Email: natalie.dusek@capitol.tn.gov | Phone: 615-741-2564 HB 989 - SB 1035 SUMMARY OF BILL: Requires the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) to report by October 1, 2025, to the Speakers of the Senate and the House of Representatives, the number of persons found guilty of the Class A misdemeanor offense of, as an employer, dismissing from employment an employee because of jury service by that employee, from January 1, 1990, until January 1, 2025. FISCAL IMPACT: NOT SIGNIFICANT Assumptions: • Based on information provided by the AOC, the office can issue the required report within existing resources containing all of the data available to the office on the relevant offense, provided that the report may contain some data deficiencies due to the reporting standards of earlier decades. • Any fiscal impact to state or local government is therefore estimated to be not significant.
