SB 928 - HB 1001 FISCAL NOTE Fiscal Review Committee Tennessee General Assembly March 6, 2025 Fiscal Analyst: Alan Hampton | Email: alan.hampton@capitol.tn.gov | Phone: 615-741-2564 SB 928 - HB 1001 SUMMARY OF BILL: Requires the State Board of Education (SBE) to authorize a student who is working toward completing a career and technical education elective focus to substitute up to four career and technical education course credits for the required chemistry course credit, computer science course credit, world language course credit, and Algebra II course credit necessary to earn a full diploma upon graduation from high school. FISCAL IMPACT: NOT SIGNIFICANT Assumptions: • Pursuant to Tenn. Code Ann. § 49-6-6001(a), a student must meet the requirements as set forth by the SBE in order to receive a full diploma upon graduation from high school. • The SBE will be able to authorize an eligible student to substitute up to four career and technical education course credits as proposed in the legislation within existing resources such that any fiscal impact is estimated to be not significant. • Schools will be able to comply with proposed changes and update graduation requirements within existing resources and during the normal course of business. • No impact to state or local government.
