SUMMARY OF BILL:    Removes the provisions that governed the appointment and length 
of terms of former members of the Board of Medical Examiners’ Committee on Physician 
Assistants (Committee) who were transferred to the Board of Physician Assistants (Board) upon its 
creation in 2021. 
 
Removes the limitation on former Committee members serving a maximum of two consecutive 
four-year terms on the Board, inclusive of time as a member of the Committee. 
 
 
FISCAL IMPACT: 
NOT SIGNIFICANT 
 
 Assumptions: 
 
• Pursuant to Tenn. Code Ann. § 63-19-103(a)(1), the Board must consist of nine members, 
appointed by the Governor. 
• Pursuant to Tenn. Code Ann. § 63-19-103(b)(1), a member of the Board shall not serve 
more than two consecutive four-year terms. 
• The proposed legislation will not result in a change in the total number of Board members 
or the number of annual meetings of the Board. 
• Any fiscal impact to the Board or the Department of Health is estimated to be not 
significant.
