<BillNo> <Sponsor> HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION 10 By Moon HJR0010 000590 - 1 - A RESOLUTION to recognize Holly Hatcher of the Alcoa Police Department on the occasion of her retirement. WHEREAS, our nation was conceived by individuals who were willing to sacrifice their personal concerns to ensure the public's safety and welfare, and the Volunteer State is especially proud to be the home of so many valiant men and women who have performed above and beyond the call of duty in service of public safety; and WHEREAS, thousands of Tennesseans have continued the time-honored tradition of service in law enforcement, dedicating their time and efforts to aiding those in emergency situations and apprehending those who have broken the law; and WHEREAS, Officer Holly Hatcher of the Alcoa Police Department (APD) is one such courageous law enforcement professional, who has epitomized the highest ideals of public service and contributed greatly to the safety of the citizens of Alcoa and Blount County; and WHEREAS, Officer Hatcher will take her much-deserved retirement this year as the first female officer from the Alcoa Police Department with more than thirty years of dedicated service; and WHEREAS, Holly Hatcher began her career with the Alcoa Police Department in 1994 as a police officer and rose through the ranks to Director of Community Policing in 2005; and WHEREAS, Officer Hatcher has held several other positions within the APD, including as a patrol officer, community policing director, community liaison, and crime prevention officer, and she currently serves with acumen and alacrity as a School Resource Officer at Clayton- Bradley Academy STEM School; and - 2 - 000590 WHEREAS, Officer Hatcher is a leader in her community and her profession, and she dedicates her time and talents to several local organizations, including Habitat for Humanity of Blount County; and WHEREAS, she attended the Washington State Correctional Officer's Academy; the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy; the School Resource Officer Basic Academy; the Advanced School Resource Officer Academy; and the National Citizen's Police Academy Association conferences, where she served as a board director; and WHEREAS, Officer Hatcher also completed several seminars regarding effective officer training, current child safety issues, and efficient school safety response; and WHEREAS, no stranger to awards and accolades, Officer Hatcher received the Diversity Champions Award and the Ronald C. Manges Award; in 2020, she was named "Best Police Officer" by The Daily Times Readers' Choice Awards, and she was the first recipient of the Ken and Madge Tullis Suicide Prevention Award; and WHEREAS, Holly Hatcher exemplifies the spirit and allegiance to family and community that are characteristic of a true Tennessean; and WHEREAS, throughout her years of public service, Officer Hatcher demonstrated the utmost professionalism, ability, and integrity, winning the sincere respect and admiration of her colleagues, her fellow officers, and a grateful public; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRES ENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE CONCURRING, that we hereby honor and commend Holly Hatcher upon the occasion of her retirement, extending our gratitude for her many years of dedicated service to the Alcoa Police Department and our best wishes for success in all her future endeavors.
