A RESOLUTION to confirm the appointment of Todd Skelton to
the advisory board for the University of
Tennessee, Knoxville.
WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-9-501, established advisory boards
for the University of Tennessee, Knoxville; University of Tennessee at Martin; University of
Tennessee at Chattanooga; and University of Tennessee Health Science Center; and
WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-9-501, provides that the governor
shall appoint five members to each advisory board; and
WHEREAS, Governor Bill Lee has appointed Todd Skelton to serve as a member of the
advisory board for the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, for a term that expires on June 30,
2025; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Skelton is the general counsel of HF Capital, the family office for the
Haslam family, where he is responsible for legal matters related to investments; he previously
served as deputy counsel to Governor Bill Haslam, a member of the governor's senior staff, and
primary drafter of the bill that created the University of Tennessee advisory board system; and
WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-9-501, provides that each member
appointed by the governor to the advisory board for the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, shall
be confirmed by the General Assembly; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED
FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STAT E OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE
CONCURRING, that we hereby confirm the appointment of Todd Skelton to the advisory board
for the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, for a term that expires on June 30, 2025.
