<BillNo> <Sponsor> HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION 225 By Camper HJR0225 003572 - 1 - A RESOLUTION to honor and congratulate Andrew Pollard on the celebration of his eightieth birthday. WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly pay tribute to those citizens who are celebrating special occasions in their estimable lives; and WHEREAS, Andrew Pollard celebrates his eightieth birthday on February 22, 2025, a milestone that will be commemorated as yet another precious souvenir of life's rich pageant; and WHEREAS, born in Memphis on February 22, 1945, Mr. Pollard is the third child born to Lonzo and Ora Lee Pollard, and he is a graduate of Carver High School; and WHEREAS, Andrew Pollard has dedicated his time and talents to his community in several capacities throughout the years, giving back to charities and organizations that aid families in need and promote love and goodwill; and WHEREAS, Mr. Pollard has enjoyed the love and companionship of his beloved wife, Rose Pollard; his children, Lashun Pollard-Turner, Latrice Pollard-Anthony, and Brian Keith Pollard; his grandchildren, Keith Pollard, Randi Anthony, Brandon Pollard, Reginald Anthony, Jr., Monica Anthony-Crutcher, Chartzi Spell, and Charlie Spell IV; and his great-grandchildren, Alaiyah Latrice Anthony, Kash DeAndre Pollard, Major DeWayne Glass, Blake Austin Bell, Jr., and Banks Lanier Bell; and WHEREAS, Andrew Pollard is the president and founder of A&R Barbeque, which he and his wife founded in 1983, and the restaurant has two locations that are considered staples in the Memphis and Midsouth communities; and WHEREAS, a man of devout faith, Mr. Pollard has served as Elder Emeritus at New Direction Christian for twenty-three years; and - 2 - 003572 WHEREAS, as he enters his eightieth year, Andrew Pollard continues to embrace his gentle spirit, and he is a blessing to those who are fortunate to know him; and WHEREAS, we wish to grasp this golden opportunity to specially recognize one of Tennessee's most outstanding citizens on this very special occasion; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE CONCURRING, that we hereby honor and congratulate Andrew Pollard on the celebration of his eightieth birthday and extend to him our best wishes for much continued success and happiness.
