A RESOLUTION to honor the memory of Don E. Boring. 
 
 WHEREAS, the members of this General Assembly were greatly saddened to learn of 
the passing of Don E. Boring; and 
 WHEREAS, Don Boring was an exemplary gentleman and consummate professional 
who worked assiduously to improve the quality of life for his fellow citizens in numerous 
capacities; and 
 WHEREAS, from 1956 to 1989, Mr. Boring served with the Maryville Police Department, 
ultimately retiring as Chief of Police; from 1989 to 1999, he served as Chief Deputy for the 
Blount County Sheriff's Department, in which position he earned the respect of his colleagues 
and community alike for the exemplary quality of his work; and 
 WHEREAS, Don Boring was an active and devout member of the Kerbela Shriners, a 
Freemason, and a member of Monte Vista Baptist Church, which he served for many years; and 
 WHEREAS, Mr. Boring was also deeply devoted to his family, and he always 
endeavored to remain true to family values of the highest order; and 
 WHEREAS, Don Boring was the proud father of Terry D. (Lori) Boring, Sherry (Chuck) 
Blair, and Karen (Randy) Lamon; the grandfather of Olivia (Eric) Myers, Melissa (Charlie) 
Lindsey, Chelsea (Nick) Maute, Ryann Boring, and Chad (MacKenzie) Lamon; and the great-
grandfather of ten great-grandchildren; and 
 WHEREAS, Mr. Boring is further survived by his sisters, Laverne Copenhagen and 
Brenda (Jim) Jordan; and

 WHEREAS, in addition to his parents, Glenn Boring and Pauline Carpenter, Don Boring 
was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Boring, and his siblings, Larry Boring, Glennis Ball, 
and Janie Braun; and 
 WHEREAS, Mr. Boring loved fishing, tending to his backyard garden, and spending time 
with his grandchildren; and 
 WHEREAS, Don E. Boring leaves behind an indelible legacy of integrity and probity in 
public life, compassion and loyalty in private life, and diligence and dedication in all his chosen 
endeavors; and 
 WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly should pause to 
remember the bountiful life of this exceptional public servant and human being; now, therefore, 
 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED 
FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE 
CONCURRING, that we honor the memory of Don E. Boring, reflecting fondly upon his 
impeccable character and his stalwart commitment to living the examined life with courage and 
conviction. 
 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we express our sympathy and offer our condolences 
to the family of Mr. Boring. 
 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared 
for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to 
the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear 
without House or Senate designation.
