<BillNo> <Sponsor> HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION 285 By Camper HJR0285 004041 - 1 - A RESOLUTION to honor and congratulate Barbara Joyce Driver- Rice on the celebration of her seventieth birthday. WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly pay tribute to those citizens who celebrated special occasions in their estimable lives; and WHEREAS, Barbara Joyce Driver-Rice celebrated her seventieth birthday on October 17, 2024, a milestone that was commemorated as yet another precious souvenir of life's rich pageant; and WHEREAS, the daughter of Etta M. Driver Rayborn and David Clyde Driver, Sr., and the sister of our esteemed colleague Representative Karen Camper, Barbara Joyce Driver-Rice was born in Hughes, Arkansas, on October 17, 1954; and WHEREAS, a 1972 graduate of Southside High School in Memphis, she attended Miller Hawkins Business College and earned a secretarial degree, typing eighty words per minute and reaching 120 words per minute in shorthand; and WHEREAS, Ms. Driver-Rice was recruited to work at the Pentagon for the Air Force under Colonel Price; after a distinguished career, she later took her much-deserved retirement from the San Angelo Independent School District in San Angelo, Texas; and WHEREAS, a highly respected member of her community, Ms. Driver-Rice loves to cook and travel, having visited thirty-seven states so far, but she especially loves spending time with her family and doting on her treasured grandchildren; and WHEREAS, a beloved family matriarch, she is the proud mother of six devoted children, Dectra Darnell Rice, Charles Princeton Rice, Carleton Rice, Crystal Rice, JonDavid Thomas, and Sierra Thomas; and the loving grandmother of Iyleena Rice, Izayah Rice, Keevon Rice, - 2 - 004041 Alanis Rice, Saryan Rice, Nariah Rice, Rocco Rice, Jayla Elliott, Jarvis Elliott, Jr., Jada Elliott, Ja'King Elliott, Jayston Ward, Zachary Reed, Amari Thomas, Jariah Thomas, Judah Thomas, Kaleah Thomas, Kayonni Thomas, Zayeluh Thomas, Jamahi Riggins, Kyren Thomas, Braelyn Betts, J'Kahi Betts, and Saryan Holguin; and WHEREAS, we wish to grasp this golden opportunity to specially recognize one of this nation's most outstanding citizens on this very special occasion; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE CONCURRING, that we hereby honor and congratulate Barbara Joyce Driver-Rice on the celebration of her seventieth birthday and extend to her our best wishes for much continued success and happiness.
