<BillNo> <Sponsor> HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION 312 By Sparks HJR0312 004498 - 1 - A RESOLUTION to honor Corporal Ray Cobb on the occasion of his retirement. WHEREAS, it is appropriate that we should honor those citizens who have performed with uncommon devotion and enthusiasm throughout their careers in law enforcement; and WHEREAS, Corporal Ray Cobb is one such estimable person, who, following thirty-six years of service to the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center, has taken his much-deserved retirement; and WHEREAS, Corporal Cobb's extensive career with the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center saw many changes; when he began his job at the detention center, records were kept by paper, and the jail held about 100 inmates with three people working the midnight shift, two people in booking, and one person watching the cells from the tower; and WHEREAS, since then, the county constructed a new detention center to hold approximately 956 inmates, and about five detention center supervisors and deputies are assigned to booking on each shift; and WHEREAS, prior to his position at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center, Corporal Ray Cobb was employed at a State prison in Nashville; and WHEREAS, his professional accomplishments aside, Corporal Cobb is most grateful for the support of his mother, Oma Brenner; his children, Jessica Bramlett, Leann Cobb, Matthew Cobb, and Olivia Cobb; and his grandchildren; and WHEREAS, during his long and distinguished career as a corrections officer, Corporal Ray Cobb performed his duties with acumen and alacrity, helping his fellow citizens in any way that he could and proving himself time and again to be a tremendous asset to the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office; and - 2 - 004498 WHEREAS, Corporal Cobb exemplifies the spirit and allegiance to community that are characteristic of a true Tennessean; and WHEREAS, throughout his estimable career, Corporal Ray Cobb demonstrated the utmost professionalism, ability, and integrity, winning the sincere respect and admiration of his colleagues and the citizens of Rutherford County; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF T HE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE CONCURRING, that we honor Corporal Ray Cobb of the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center upon the occasion of his retirement, commend his many years of distinguished service, and wish him continued success in all his future endeavors. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear without House or Senate designation.
