<BillNo> <Sponsor> HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION 333 By McCalmon HJR0333 004211 - 1 - A RESOLUTION to honor the memory of Robert William Fitzgerald of Franklin. WHEREAS, the members of this General Assembly were greatly saddened to learn of the passing of Robert William Fitzgerald; and WHEREAS, Robert Fitzgerald was an exemplary public servant and consummate professional who worked assiduously to improve the quality of life for his fellow citizens in numerous capacities; and WHEREAS, Mr. Fitzgerald nobly served his country in the U.S. Army from August 4, 1977, to September 6, 1977, and received an honorable discharge from Ft. Gordon, Georgia; and WHEREAS, Mr. Fitzgerald served with acumen and alacrity as a firefighter with the City of Franklin Fire Department from February 14, 1982, to September 1, 2007; promoted to the rank of engineer in 1985, he earned the respect of his colleagues and community alike for the exemplary quality of his work; and WHEREAS, Mr. Fitzgerald was also deeply devoted to his family, and he always endeavored to remain true to family values of the highest order; and WHEREAS, Robert Fitzgerald enjoyed the loving companionship of his wife, Cynthia Fitzgerald, and was the proud father of LaKeshia Fitzgerald, Robert Fitzgerald, Jr., and Chadwick (Amy) Fitzgerald and grandfather of Jeremiah Scruggs, Keegen Scruggs, Jazzlyn Sparkman, and Mason Fitzgerald; and WHEREAS, he is further survived by his sister, Mary Etta Curll; brothers, Charles Fitzgerald and John W. (Bernice) Fitzgerald; sister-in-law, Theresa (Michael) Covington; brothers-in-law, James (Sylvia) Cunningham and John Caldwell; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and - 2 - 004211 WHEREAS, Mr. Fitzgerald was preceded in death by his parents, Bolin Fitzgerald and Katherine N. North Fitzgerald; and WHEREAS, Robert Fitzgerald leaves behind an indelible legacy of integrity and probity in public life, compassion and loyalty in private life, and diligence and dedication in all his chosen endeavors; and WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly should pause to remember the bountiful life of this exceptional public servant and human being; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE CONCURRING, that we honor the memory of Robert William Fitzgerald, reflecting fondly upon his impeccable character and his stalwart commitment to living the examined life with courage and conviction. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we express our sympathy and offer our condolences to the family of Mr. Fitzgerald. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear without House or Senate designation.
