<BillNo> <Sponsor> HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION 383 By Martin G HJR0383 005242 - 1 - A RESOLUTION to recognize Lawson Electric Company on the occasion of its 100 th anniversary. WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly should recognize those historic Tennessee businesses that have a long-standing commitment to providing exceptional service to their customers; and WHEREAS, one such estimable entity is Lawson Electric Company, which celebrates its 100 th anniversary this year, a commendable milestone for this notable Tennessee business; and WHEREAS, Lawson Electric Company was founded as Lawson & McCaslin Electric Company in 1925 by Lester E. Lawson and Elmer H. McCaslin; since that time, it has grown to become one of Tennessee's largest electrical contractors, with offices in Manchester, Nashville, and Dalton, in addition to its Chattanooga headquarters; and WHEREAS, Lawson Electric currently employs over 500 construction personnel, field electricians, professional engineers, project managers, designers, industrial automation professionals, management, and clerical staff; and WHEREAS, the company's significant investments in state-of-the-art equipment and human resources allow Lawson Electric Company to serve its customers with the tools and manpower required when special needs arise; and WHEREAS, ever-committed to community, Lawson Electric has, since its inception, serviced many long-standing businesses such as Chattanooga Coca-Cola Bottling Company, Truist, United Way of Greater Chattanooga, Erlanger Hospital, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Tennessee American Water, the Tivoli Theatre, and BlueCross BlueShield; and WHEREAS, in 1942, the company contributed to the Chattanooga campaign of the American Red Cross after the U.S. entered World War II, helping to raise $125,000 city-wide; - 2 - 005242 Lawson Electric served in the Construction Division of the campaign, and the company made the honor roll for its giving; and WHEREAS, as the company celebrates this historic milestone, Lawson Electric remains steadfast in its mission to do things right the first time and exceed customer expectations, all while giving them the best value for their money; and WHEREAS, in this, Lawson Electric Company's 100 th year of operation, the business maintains a stellar reputation; in 2018 and again in 2024, the company was honored with the Better Business Bureau Torch Award for Ethics, the most prestigious honor the bureau presents to exceptional organizations for dedication to integrity and ethical practices; and WHEREAS, since 1925, Lawson Electric Company has ably served the citizens of this State, and it is our privilege to recognize this outstanding business on this special occasion; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEM BLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE CONCURRING, that we congratulate Lawson Electric Company on 100 years of operation, wishing the iconic Tennessee business much continued success in the future.
