A RESOLUTION to honor and congratulate Courtney Nichols on 
his selection as the 2024–2025 Cannon County 
School District Principal of the Year. 
 
 WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly should pause to 
specially recognize those outstanding professionals who have devoted their careers to providing 
the highest quality education for Tennessee's students; and 
 WHEREAS, Courtney Nichols is one such estimable administrator, who has 
distinguished himself as a professional of the greatest dedication, ability, and integrity; and 
 WHEREAS, Mr. Nichols has been selected as the 2024–2025 Cannon County School 
District Principal of the Year, an honor most befitting his outstanding tenure as a principal, as it 
recognizes the positive influence he has on so many young lives; and 
 WHEREAS, with a career in education spanning thirty-one years, Mr. Nichols is an 
extremely talented and compassionate administrator, who works assiduously to motivate his 
students, teachers, and staff to reach their full potential as scholars, professionals, and citizens; 
and 
 WHEREAS, Courtney Nichols was initially an agriculture teacher at Richland High 
School and transferred to Cannon County High School in 2004 to teach Career and Technical 
Education; and 
 WHEREAS, under his leadership as an FFA advisor, Cannon County High School's 
chapter earned numerous State and national honors, and Mr. Nichols was duly named the 
NWAE Southeast Agriculture Teacher of the Year; and

 WHEREAS, Mr. Nichols became the principal of Cannon County High School in 2018, 
and throughout his tenure, he has remained passionate about creating programs in which all 
students can succeed and prepare for future careers; and 
 WHEREAS, Courtney Nichols earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Middle 
Tennessee State University in 1994, his master's degree from Tennessee Technological 
University in 2006, and an Educational Specialist degree in Instructional Leadership in 2009; 
and 
 WHEREAS, Mr. Nichols serves as an inspiration to the faculty and staff of Cannon 
County High School, and his friendship and counsel are highly valued by those who are 
fortunate to know him; and 
 WHEREAS, Courtney Nichols truly epitomizes the dedicated principal who is wholly 
committed to the highest ideals of public service and quality education for all, and he should be 
specially recognized; now, therefore, 
 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED 
FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE 
CONCURRING, that we honor and congratulate Courtney Nichols on being chosen as the 
2024–2025 Cannon County School District Principal of the Year, commend his exceptional 
service to the children of Tennessee, salute his professional expertise and personal excellence, 
and wish him all the best in his future endeavors. 
 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared 
for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to 
the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear 
without House or Senate designation.
