<BillNo> <Sponsor> HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION 554 By Parkinson HJR0554 006987 - 1 - A RESOLUTION to commend Malik Abdullah for exemplary service as a legislative intern. WHEREAS, each legislative session, this General Assembly is pleased to recognize certain persons who have committed themselves, through their adroit service, to the betterment of the legislative process; and WHEREAS, Malik Abdullah is one such individual, who has distinguished himself in his role as a legislative intern for Representative Antonio Parkinson; Mr. Abdullah's work has resulted in innumerable benefits for the legislators he assisted and the General Assembly as a whole; and WHEREAS, a senior at Tennessee State University, where he is highly regarded by his peers, Malik Abdullah has achieved remarkable academic success while majoring in political science; he plans to attend law school and ultimately become a member of the bar; and WHEREAS, eager to familiarize himself with the myriad aspects and complexities of Tennessee State government and to further his studies, Malik Abdullah brought his many abilities and singular expertise to Capitol Hill for the 2025 session of the One Hundred Fourteenth General Assembly, having previously served during the One Hundred Thirteenth General Assembly; and WHEREAS, throughout the 2025 legislative session, Mr. Abdullah has surpassed all criteria that define a devoted and conscientious legislative intern; and WHEREAS, Malik Abdullah has performed his many duties with extraordinary insight and rare decorum, and his efforts are surely a source of pride for his parents, Hamid Abdullah and Candice Smoots; his university; and his community; now, therefore, - 2 - 006987 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF T HE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE CONCURRING, that we hereby commend Malik Abdullah for outstanding service as a legislative intern for Representative Antonio Parkinson and extend to him our best wishes for every future success. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear without House or Senate designation.
