A RESOLUTION to confirm the appointment of Ina F. Maxwell,
Ph.D., to the State Board of Education.
WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-1-301, provides for the creation of
the State Board of Education; and
WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-1-301(a)(3)(A)(ii), provides that the
Speaker of the House of Representatives shall appoint three members to the State Board of
Education representing the 2

, and 8
th
congressional districts; and
WHEREAS, Speaker Cameron Sexton has appointed Ina F. Maxwell, Ph.D., to the State
Board of Education for a term that will expire on March 31, 2029, as a member representing the

th
Congressional District; and
WHEREAS, Ina F. Maxwell, Ph.D., is a person of integrity and an active citizen whose
benevolence, acumen, and strong commitment to public service have helped to enhance the
well-being of this State and its citizens; and
WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-1-301, provides that each member
appointed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives to the State Board of Education shall
be confirmed by resolution of the House of Representatives; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOU SE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED
FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, that this body does
hereby confirm the appointment of Ina F. Maxwell, Ph.D., to the State Board of Education for a
term that will expire on March 31, 2029.
