SUMMARY OF BILL: Extends the termination date of the Interstate Corrections Compact
to June 30, 2033. Under the Tennessee Governmental Entity Review Law, the compact is scheduled to
terminate on June 30, 2025. Creates a new section of statute for the purpose of establishing a sunset
date for entities that will expire on June 30, 2033.
FISCAL IMPACT:
NOT SIGNIFICANT
Assumptions:
• This legislation continues an existing entity at its current funding level.
• According to the Department of Correction, the compact’s expenditures were $464,636 in
FY22-23 and $526,023 in FY23-24.
