SUMMARY OF BILL: Extends the termination date of the Tennessee Wars Commission
(TWC) to June 30, 2029. Under the Tennessee Governmental Entity Review Law, the commission is
scheduled to terminate on June 30, 2025.
FISCAL IMPACT:
NOT SIGNIFICANT
Assumptions:
• This legislation continues an existing entity at its current funding level.
• According to the Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC), the TWC is part
of the Tennessee Historical Commission (THC). TDEC indicates costs relative to the TWC
cannot be separated from those of the THC.
• According to TDEC, the THC’s expenditures were $26,071 in FY22-23 and $18,216 in
FY23-24.
