HB 187 - SB 208 FISCAL NOTE Fiscal Review Committee Tennessee General Assembly February 5, 2025 Fiscal Analyst: Alan Hampton | Email: alan.hampton@capitol.tn.gov | Phone: 615-741-2564 HB 187 – SB 208 SUMMARY OF BILL: Reduces the number and frequency of certain reports the Comptroller of the Treasury (COT) is required to submit to the chair of certain legislative committees and the State Board of Education, pursuant to the Tennessee Literacy Success Act. FISCAL IMPACT: NOT SIGNIFICANT Assumptions: • Pursuant to Tenn. Code Ann. §§ 49-1-905(g)(6) and 49-1-910, by November 1 of each year, the COT is required to submit a report detailing a review of the foundational literacy plans submitted to the Department of Education and a separate annual report detailing the implementation of the Tennessee Literacy Success Act. • The proposed legislation requires the review of foundational literacy plans to be included in the annual report and reduces the frequency with which the COT must submit the annual report to every three years. • The reduced reporting requirements will not significantly impact COT operations. Any fiscal impact is estimated to be not significant. CERTIFICATION: The information contained herein is true and correct to the best of my knowledge. Bojan Savic, Executive Director
