SUMMARY OF BILL: Requires each local education agency (LEA) and public charter
school to require at least one full-time employee at each school under its jurisdiction to annually
receive training in seizure safety and first aid to assist students and staff in the event of an
emergency. Establishes liability protections from any personal injuries that result from an act or
omission of the employee, if the act or omission does not amount to willful or wanton misconduct
or gross negligence.
FISCAL IMPACT:
NOT SIGNIFICANT
Assumption:
• LEAs and public charter schools will utilize readily available free resources for designated
employee training. Any impact on local government operations will be not significant.
