SUMMARY OF BILL: Authorizes a criminal court in Shelby County to process matters
related to orders of protection when the criminal court is hearing a criminal matter involving a
victim of domestic abuse, sexual assault, or stalking.
FISCAL IMPACT:
NOT SIGNIFICANT
Assumptions:
• Based on information provided by the AOC, the Shelby County criminal courts can
accommodate these additional responsibilities within existing judicial resources.
• Any fiscal impact to state or local government is estimated to be not significant.
