SUMMARY OF BILL:    Authorizes the Tennessee Public Charter School Commission, 
instead of the State Board of Education, to approve and accredit educational institutions to be 
exempt from registration requirements for the solicitation of charitable funds. 
 
 
FISCAL IMPACT: 
NOT SIGNIFICANT 
 Assumptions: 
 
• Tennessee Code Annotated § 48-101-502(b) currently authorizes local boards of education, 
the achievement school district, or the State Board of Education to approve and accredit 
educational institutions. 
• The proposed legislation will not impact the number of approved and accredited 
educational institutions or the operations of the Tennessee Public Charter School 
Commission or the State Board of Education. Therefore, any fiscal impact to state or local 
government will be not significant.
