SB 565 - HB 914 FISCAL NOTE Fiscal Review Committee Tennessee General Assembly April 2, 2025 Fiscal Analyst: Alan Hampton | Email: alan.hampton@capitol.tn.gov | Phone: 615-741-2564 SB 565 - HB 914 SUMMARY OF BILL: Requires each local education agency (LEA) and public charter school to review any new curricula recommended by the Joint Task Force on Children's Justice and Child Sexual Abuse (Task Force) prior to the start of each school year. FISCAL IMPACT: NOT SIGNIFICANT Assumptions: • Pursuant to Tenn. Code. Ann. § 49-6-1304, the Task Force is required to annually recommend to the Department of Education (DOE) age-appropriate curricula that LEAs and public charter schools may use to provide instruction on the detection, intervention, prevention, and treatment of child sexual abuse, human trafficking, and internet crimes against children. The DOE is required to annually notify LEAs and public charter schools of the curricula recommended by the Task Force. • LEAs will be able to review any new curricula recommended by the Task Force prior to the start of each school year within existing resources.
