HB 163 FISCAL NOTE Fiscal Review Committee Tennessee General Assembly January 31, 2025 Fiscal Analyst: Laura Moore | Email: laura.moore@capitol.tn.gov | Phone: 615-741-2564 HB 163 SUMMARY OF BILL: Increases, from 30 to 45, the number of days within which a municipal corporation must cease to prescribe and enforce traffic ordinances on the campus of a state institution of higher education in its jurisdiction after such institution requests the governing body of the municipal corporation to cease prescribing and enforcing such traffic ordinances on the campus of that state institution. FISCAL IMPACT: NOT SIGNIFICANT Assumptions: • Increasing the time frame in which a municipal corporation can prescribe and enforce traffic ordinances on the campus of a state institution after such state institution has requested the governing body of the municipal corporation to cease enforcing traffic ordinances will not result in a significant increase in traffic citations. • Any fiscal impact to state or local government is estimated to be not significant.
