SUMMARY OF BILL: Removes the requirement that county election commissions purge
the permanent registration records not less than 90 days prior to the regular August election, unless
otherwise prohibited by federal law.
FISCAL IMPACT:
NOT SIGNIFICANT
Assumptions:
• According to the National Voter Registration Act of 1993, states must complete any program
that purges ineligible voters from the official list of eligible voters no later than 90 days
prior to a primary or general federal election.
• The August election serves as a primary election for federal offices.
• Therefore, the proposed legislation will not have any significant operational or fiscal impact
to state or local governments.
