SUMMARY OF BILL: Changes all references of “adult day care” in the Tennessee Code
Annotated to “adult day services”.
FISCAL IMPACT:
NOT SIGNIFICANT
Assumption:
• Pursuant to Tenn. Code Ann. § 71-2-401(1), “adult day care” is defined as services provided
to five or more adult recipients for more than three hours per day by a provider of such
services who is not related to such adult, pursuant to an individualized plan of care designed
to maintain or restore each adult’s optimal capacity for self-care through medical or social
services.
• Changing all references of “adult day care” to “adult day services” will align statutory
references with operational terms utilized by the Department of Human Services. Any
impact on state or local government operations will be not significant.
