HB 480 FISCAL NOTE Fiscal Review Committee Tennessee General Assembly January 31, 2025 Fiscal Analyst: Laura Moore | Email: laura.moore@capitol.tn.gov | Phone: 615-741-2564 HB 480 SUMMARY OF BILL: Requires the description of real property contained within a deed of conveyance of a property not previously described in a recorded instrument to be prepared by a registered land surveyor. Exempts any deed of conveyance prepared by or for a governmental department or agency from the requirement. FISCAL IMPACT: NOT SIGNIFICANT Assumptions: • Requiring such deeds to be prepared by a land surveyor will not result in a significant increase in the number of land surveyor registrations. • It is assumed that local government entities currently use registered land surveyors as required by this legislation. • Any impact on state or local government is estimated to be not significant. IMPACT TO COMMERCE: NOT SIGNIFICANT Assumptions: • There may be an increase in business revenue for land surveyors if currently such land is being surveyed by someone other than a registered land surveyor; however, any increase in business revenue for a land surveyor may also result in a decrease in business revenue for any other business otherwise recording such deeds. • Any impact on business expenses will be not significant. CERTIFICATION: The information contained herein is true and correct to the best of my knowledge. Bojan Savic, Executive Director
