SUMMARY OF BILL:    Authorizes a litigation financier, who is not a business entity or 
partnership, to withdraw its registration with the Secretary of State (SOS) by filing a form prescribed 
by the SOS along with a filing fee of $20. 
 
FISCAL IMPACT: 
 
NOT SIGNIFICANT  
  
 Assumptions: 
 
• Tennessee Code Annotated § 47-16-103(c) currently allows a litigation financier, who is not 
a business entity or partnership, to amend its registration with the SOS by filing an 
amendment on a form prescribed by the SOS, along with a $20 filing fee. 
• According to the SOS, there are currently no individuals or sole proprietorships that are 
registered as litigation financiers. 
• The SOS will be able to update its forms to allow for the amending or withdraw of 
registrations by utilizing existing resources and without any increase in state expenditures. 
• Any impact on state revenue will be not significant. 
 
IMPACT TO COMMERCE: 
 
NOT SIGNIFICANT 
  
 Assumption: 
 
• The proposed legislation will not result in any significant impact to commerce or jobs in 
Tennessee.
