A RESOLUTION to congratulate Wayne Bettis upon his receipt of 
the 2025 Greene County Republican Chairman's 
Award. 
 
 WHEREAS, it is our privilege to salute those citizens who, through their extraordinary 
efforts, have distinguished themselves as community leaders of whom we can all be proud; and 
 WHEREAS, one such noteworthy person is Wayne Bettis, who was recently recognized 
at the Greene County Republican Women Lincoln Day Dinner when county GOP Chairman 
Brett Purgason presented him with the 2025 Greene County Republican Chairman's Award; and 
 WHEREAS, the award is presented annually to an individual who exemplifies the 
Republican platform of freedom, liberty, economic prosperity, and the preservation of American 
values through servant-leadership, dedication, and involvement in the Greene County 
Republican Party and the community; and 
 WHEREAS, Mr. Bettis was one of the key members of the nonprofit AIDNET 
organization that provided assistance following the devastating tornado outbreak of April 2011 in 
Greene County; AIDNET remains in operation today, recently assisting victims of the 
September 2024 flooding caused by Hurricane Helene; and 
 WHEREAS, he is also active in the USS Greeneville, Inc., group; helped develop the 
local ELFS organization, which provides gifts to seniors during the Christmas season; and is a 
longtime member of Camp Creek Ruritan Club, serving as national Ruritan president in 1993 
and accomplishing a great deal during his term; and 
 WHEREAS, Wayne Bettis has worked on behalf of many local, state, and national 
Republican candidates and causes, dating back to his father-in-law Wayne Woolsey's county 
trustee campaign; and

 WHEREAS, a business owner, former pilot, author, and former chairman of the Greene 
County Republican Party, Mr. Bettis has diligently served his community and his party for many 
years, making an indelible mark and improving the lives of others in countless ways; and 
 WHEREAS, Wayne Bettis epitomizes the spirit and commitment to community that are 
characteristic of a true Tennessean, and it is most fitting that we recognize him at this time; now, 
therefore, 
 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH 
GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE HOUSE OF 
REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, that we congratulate Wayne Bettis upon his receipt of 
the 2025 Greene County Republican Chairman's Award, extending to him our best wishes for 
much continued success. 
 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared 
for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to 
the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear 
without House or Senate designation.
