<BillNo> <Sponsor> SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION 535 By Briggs SJR0535 008042 - 1 - A RESOLUTION to recognize Randy Stamps of the Tennessee State Employees Association on the occasion of his retirement. WHEREAS, it is appropriate that we should honor those citizens who have performed with uncommon devotion and enthusiasm throughout their years of industry; and WHEREAS, Randy Stamps is one such estimable person, who served with distinction as the Executive Director of the Tennessee State Employees Association (TSEA) for seven years and took his much-deserved retirement in 2023; and WHEREAS, Mr. Stamps began his illustrious career with TSEA in 2014, serving as Director of Government Affairs for the organization, a post he held until 2016, when he was named Executive Director; and WHEREAS, prior to his time with TSEA, Randy Stamps served as policy and research counsel for the Tennessee House of Representatives and enjoyed a tenure as political director for the Tennessee Republican Party from 2003 to 2009; and WHEREAS, Mr. Stamps rendered sterling service as an elected official, first with the Sumner County school board and later as a member of the Tennessee House of Representatives, proudly representing the 45 th District from 1988 to 1998; and WHEREAS, he holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government Public Administration from Lipscomb University and a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from Pepperdine University; and WHEREAS, Mr. Stamps holds his faith, family, and friends as the most important parts of his life, followed closely by his deep passion for University of Tennessee sports and politics; and WHEREAS, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Mr. Stamps enjoys the love and support of his wife, Cindy; his children and their spouses, Jessica Stamps Varnado and - 2 - 008042 Nick Varnado, Emma Roy and Steven Roy, and Will Stamps and Morgan Stamps; and his grandchildren, Gray, Reagan Louise, and Margaux Wynn; and WHEREAS, Randy Stamps exemplifies the spirit and allegiance to family and community that are characteristic of a true Tennessean; and WHEREAS, throughout his estimable career, Randy Stamps demonstrated the utmost professionalism, ability, and integrity, winning the unbridled respect and admiration of his colleagues and the members of the Tennessee State Employees Association; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, that we extend to Randy Stamps our heartfelt wishes for a happy and fulfilling retirement and every continued success in his future endeavors. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear without House or Senate designation.
