A RESOLUTION to honor and commend the Fayette-Ware 
Wildcats boys' basketball team upon an 
outstanding 2024-2025 season. 
 
 WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this legislative body should salute those 
student athletes who, through their extraordinary efforts, have distinguished themselves as true 
champions of whom we can all be proud; and 
 WHEREAS, one such exemplary group of lads is the Fayette-Ware Comprehensive High 
School Wildcats boys' basketball team, whose members have proven themselves to be the 
fiercest of competitors and truly worthy of admiration by winning the District 14 and Region 7 
tournaments and reaching the semifinals of the 2025 TSSAA Class 3A state tournament; and 
 WHEREAS, in their semifinal game of the District 14 tourney, the Wildcats demolished 
Bolton 81-50 to advance in their quest for the title; and 
 WHEREAS, in the championship game, Fayette-Ware defeated Haywood 62-59 behind 
a double-double from Tarecous Stevens and outstanding performances from Tacarien Freeman 
and Quaylan Hampton to bring home the gold; and 
 WHEREAS, the Wildcats then advanced to the Class 3A West regional competition, 
where they crushed Obion County 75-55 in the quarterfinals, rolled over Dyer County 75-56 in 
their semifinal match-up, and defeated Dyersburg 51-42 in the final to claim the Region 7 
championship crown; and 
 WHEREAS, matching up against Kirby in their sectional game, Fayette-Ware prevailed 
by a score of 75-60 to gain entry into the promised land of the state tournament; and 
 WHEREAS, poised for victory, the Wildcats bested Fulton 57-49 in the quarterfinals of 
the Class 3A state tournament at MTSU's Murphy Center; and

 WHEREAS Fayette-Ware finished their remarkable 2024-2025 campaign with a 28-6 
overall record; and 
 WHEREAS, the following young men are proud to call themselves Wildcats: JaCorey 
Stanley, Hunter Malena, Christopher Ransom, Quaylan Hampton, Markylon Terry, Cash 
Williams, Markevius Brown, Elijah Lowe, Tarecous Stevens, Michael Harris, Julian Williams, 
and Tacarien Freeman; and 
 WHEREAS, Fayette-Ware's superb performance would not have been possible without 
the stellar leadership of Head Coach Demarius Chearis and assistant coaches Quinterius 
Armour, Corderro Blade, Marcus Freeman, and Kimani Shotwell and the unfailing support of 
their families, their fans, and their community; and   
 WHEREAS, the members of the Fayette-Ware boys' basketball team epitomize all that is 
good in today's student athletes, as they have achieved a premier level of success in 
competition while exhibiting the highest degree of character in all aspects of life; and 
 WHEREAS, the perseverance, determination, work ethic, and talent of this group of 
young men not only made possible an outstanding season but also surely bode well for their 
future success; and 
 WHEREAS, the members of this legislative body find it appropriate to acknowledge and 
applaud the Fayette-Ware Wildcats for their outstanding season on the hardwood; now, 
therefore, 
 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH 
GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, that we honor and commend the 
members and coaches of the Fayette-Ware Comprehensive High School Wildcats boys' 
basketball team upon winning the District 14 tournament and the Region 7 championship and 
reaching the semifinals of the Class 3A state tournament and extend to them our best wishes 
for every continued success in all their future endeavors.
