A RESOLUTION to congratulate Taquez Butler of Whitehaven
High School upon being named TSSAA Class
4A Mr. Basketball.
WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this legislative body should recognize those
incredibly successful student athletes who have distinguished themselves as inspirational
leaders among their peers; and
WHEREAS, a statewide committee of sportswriters recently named Taquez Butler, a
senior at Whitehaven High School, TSSAA Class 4A Mr. Basketball, based upon his
outstanding performance on the hardwood during the 2024-2025 regular season; and
WHEREAS, his superior academic record and upstanding character were also taken into
consideration when the committee selected Mr. Butler as the winner of this prestigious award,
which honors the best Class 4A male basketball player in the entire State; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Butler exemplifies the spirit, determination, and perseverance for which
Tennesseans are notable, and he is richly deserving of our approbation; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH
GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, that we honor and congratulate
Taquez Butler of Whitehaven High School upon being named TSSAA Class 4A Mr. Basketball
and wish him much continued success both on and off the court.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared
for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy.
