                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            May 28, 2009      TO: Honorable Joe Straus, Speaker of the House, House of Representatives      FROM: John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB1041 by Parker (relating to school district policies addressing sexual abuse of children. ), As Passed 2nd House    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would create a 15-member task force to establish a strategy for reducing child abuse and neglect and improving child welfare. The members would be entitled to reimbursement for travel expenses as provided by Chapter 660, Government Code, and the General Appropriations Act. The Act would take effect on September 1, 2009 and would expire on September 1, 2011. It is assumed that any costs associated with the bill would be minimal and could be absorbed within available resources. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated. Costs for school districts, in implementing the bills requirement to develop and implement a policy addressing sexual abuse of children, are not expected to be significant.
