A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the summoning of jurors to justice of the peace courts
in certain counties.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 62.412, Government Code, is amended by
adding Subsection (a-1) to read as follows:
(a-1) A county described by Subsection (a) with a population
of 3.3 million or more may also summon a prospective juror to report
directly to a justice court in the precinct adjacent to the precinct
in which that person resides.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
