A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the appointment of high school deputy registrars.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 13.046(a), Election Code, is amended to
read as follows:
(a) Each principal of a public or private high school [or
the principal's designee] shall designate four people who are
employees of the high school or employees of the district in which
the high school is located and serving at the high school to serve
as [a] deputy registrars [registrar] for the county in which the
school is located. At least three of the employees designated as
deputy registrars under this section must be classroom teachers or
full-time counselors certified under Subchapter B, Chapter 21,
Education Code.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
