O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE:HB1846 by Lucio III (Relating to a person who is entitled to claim a lien on certain assets.), As Introduced No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would provide for a lien against a commercial entity by a security services contractor for the amount owed under the contract. The lien would attach to the premises for which the security services contractor provided security services under the contract, if owned by the commercial entity that entered into the contract, and to the personal property owned by the commercial entity and located on that premises. The bill would require the security services contractor to file a claim for the lien within 30 days from the date of the indebtedness. The bill would take effect September 1, 2009. The Department of Public Safety reports that implementing the provisions of the bill would not pose a significant fiscal impact on its operations or resources. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
