The bill would amend Chapter 1305 of the Occupations Code to include "pool-related electrical devices" in the definition and scope of residential appliance installation. The bill would also incorporate pool-related electrical device maintenance as a part of residential appliance installation that is licensed and regulated by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR). The bill would require TDLR to accept, develop or contract for a residential appliance installer examination that tests an applicant's knowledge of the materials and methods used in the installation of residential appliances and pool-related devices. TDLR indicates that there would be some cost to implement the provisions of the bill, but it is assumed that these costs could be absorbed within the agency's existing budget.
