The bill would amend the Civil Practice and Remedies Code and change the maximum recovery amount for property damage for which a public servant may be liable. It is assumed that any additional costs associated with implementation of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources. Local Government Impact According to the Texas Association of Counties, while some counties may experience a slight negative fiscal impact, the provisions of the bill are not anticipated to create a significant fiscal impact on counties. According to the Texas Municipal League, the lower amount of liability damages for a public official could result in a reduction of insurance costs, the fiscal impact to cities is not anticipated to be significant.
