LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION April 13, 2009 TO: Honorable Pete Gallego, Chair, House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence FROM: John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE:HB2285 by Driver (Relating to the use of proceeds from the sale of certain forfeited property in a criminal trafficking case.), As Introduced No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would require the sale of certain forfeited property used in the commission of an offense and the deposit of the sale proceeds into a county trafficking property damage remedial fund. Local Government Impact The bill, if enacted, would result in counties incurring some adminstrative costs and loss of revenue. The level of fiscal impact would depend on the size of the county. The City of Dallas, for example, would incur approximately $70,000 annually in administrative costs and $40,000 in revenue losses.
