The bill would amend Government Code, Chapter 493 to require the Department of Criminal Justice to discharge an inmate to parole or mandatory supervision from the facility in which the inmate is serving his/her sentence, or from a facility designated as a regional release facility that is 75 or fewer miles away from the facility in which the inmate is serving his/her sentence. The Texas Department of Criminal Justice anticipates no fiscal impact from this bill. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
