A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to business leave time accounts for police officer
employee organizations in certain municipalities.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 142.013(d), Local Government Code, is
amended to read as follows:
(d) The police officer must authorize the donation in
writing on a form provided by the employee organization and
approved by the municipality or by an election of membership. After
receiving the signed authorization on an approved form or results
passed by the majority of membership of those voting. The
municipality shall transfer donated time to the account monthly
until the municipality receives the police officer's written
revocation of the authorization or if contributions are made due to
an election, the transfer will be conducted annually with an opt out
period each year for a period of 30 days before the last month the
leave is to be deducted.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
