A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to county general revenue levy for indigent health care.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subsection 61.002 (5)(A), Health and Safety
Code, is amended to read as follows:
(A) The property taxes imposed by a county that are not
dedicated to the construction and maintenance of farm-to-market
roads or to flood control under Article VIII, Section 1-a, of the
Texas Constitution or that are not dedicated to further maintenance
of the public roads under ARTICLE VIII, Section 9, of the Texas
Constitution or that are not dedicated to the payment of principal
or interest on county debt; and
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
