A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to a program to designate historic roads and highways in
this state.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter H, Chapter 201, Transportation Code,
is amended by adding Section 201.621 to read as follows:
Sec. 201.621. TEXAS HISTORIC ROADS AND HIGHWAYS PROGRAM.
(a) The department shall cooperate with the Texas Historical
Commission to establish a program for the identification,
designation, interpretation, and marketing of Texas historic roads
and highways.
(b) To supplement revenue available for the program, the
department and the Texas Historical Commission may pursue federal
funds dedicated to highway enhancement for the project.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
