O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE:HB3324 by Kleinschmidt (Relating to the assignment of special judges in county courts in certain counties.), As Introduced No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would amend the Government Code to authorize in a county that has no statutory county courts or statutory probate courts the assignment of special judges in county courts. Procedures are provided in the bill for the appointment and requirements of a special judge. The county would be required to compensate the special judge at a rate determined by the commissioners court before the special judge is appointed. Local Government Impact The fiscal impact to a county would depend on the rate determined for compensation of a special judge. It is assumed that a county would set a rate that could be absorbed within existing resources. Source Agencies: LBB Staff: JOB, MN, DB
