O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB3490 by Quintanilla (Relating to the administrative and criminal consequences of certain conduct committed by an applicant for or a holder of a motor vehicle inspection station certificate or an inspector certificate.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Transportation Code (Chapter 548) relating to the administrative and criminal consequences of violations committed by vehicle inspection licenses holders and vehicle inspectors.  The bill would define conditions in which the Department of Public Safety (DPS) would deny, revoke, or suspend a person who holds a motor vehicle inspector certificate if the station or inspector knowingly and intentionally conducts an inspection or issues a certificate in violation of the chapter.  The bill also states a hearing or a revocation or suspension must be held not later than three working days after the DPS receives the request for a hearing.  The bill would take effect September 1, 2009.DPS anticipates no significant fiscal impact to the agency.
