The bill would extend statutory eligibility for free prekindergarten to include stepchildren of active duty military personnel and members of the armed forces killed or injured while on active duty. The Texas Education Agency indicates that it is already the policy of the agency to include stepchildren as eligible under these sections; so no fiscal impact to the state is anticipated.
