Smithee, Chair, House Committee on Insurance      FROM: John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB3855 by Eiland (Relating to the reporting of information to the Texas Department of Insurance by certain insurance carriers.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Insurance Code to require certain insurance carriers to report information to the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI). The bill would require TDI to post the information from the reports on the agency's website and to operate a toll-free telephone hotline to respond to consumer inquiries concerning professional liability insurance. Additionally, the bill would require TDI to adopt rules to implement the provisions of the bill. Based on analysis provided by TDI, any costs associated with the implementation of this bill could be absorbed within existing agency resources.
