The bill would amend the Civil Practice and Remedies Code relating to expert reports in health care liability claims. The bill would amend provisions relating to pretrial issues including timing of discovery of expert reports, objections to expert reports and depositions by experts. To the extent the bill would amend court procedures relating to certain liability claims, no significant affect on judicial workloads or fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would take immediate effect if the bill receives two-thirds the vote of all members. Otherwise, the bill would take effect September 1, 2009. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
