A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to an optional additional fine for the violation of a
municipal rule, ordinance, or police regulation to be used to
support municipal parks.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 54, Local Government Code,
is amended by adding Section 54.007 to read as follows:
Sec. 54.007. OPTIONAL ADDITIONAL FINE TO SUPPORT MUNICIPAL
PARKS. (a) A municipality by ordinance may assess an additional
fine for each violation of a municipal rule, ordinance, or police
regulation in an amount of 10 percent of the fine originally
assessed, but not less than $10.
(b) The additional fine must be used to support municipal
parks.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
