A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the use of interest generated by certain escrow
accounts maintained in the depository of certain counties.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 23.122, Tax Code, is amended by adding
Subsection (c-1) to read as follows:
(c-1) Notwithstanding Subsection (c), the collector of a
county with a population of more than 250,000 that borders the Gulf
of Mexico and is adjacent to a county with a population of more than
3.3 million shall retain any interest generated by an escrow
account maintained under Subsection (c) to supplement the money
available to pay the costs of the general operations of the
collector's office. This subsection expires September 1, 2011.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
