                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            May 2, 2009      TO: Honorable Rene Oliveira, Chair, House Committee on Ways & Means      FROM: John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB54 by Branch (Relating to the information required to be provided in or with an ad valorem tax bill for school district taxes.), As Introduced    No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend Section 31.01, Tax Code, by adding Subsection (d-2). The new subsection would apply only to the ad valorem tax bills for certain properties located in school districts that are subject to the wealth equalization provisions of Chapter 41, Education Code. The ad valorem tax bills of single-family residences, duplexes, and triplexes would be required to include information regarding the percentage of the ad valorem taxes that would be used to meet wealth equalization provisions. The bill would take effect on September 1, 2010 Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
